2010 Chateau St. Jean Red Eighty Five Fifty Five Sonoma County

This unique wine is bright with inviting aromas of ripe mixed berry fruit, baked blackberry pie and subtle brown baking spice notes. The full-bodied wine has a lush texture with a juicy boysenberry core highlighted by accents of cassis and bittersweet chocolate. About This Wine
The Vineyard
Eighty-Five Fifty-Five is our address here in the Sonoma Valley – it represents our home. Our flagship wine – Cinq Cépages – creates the opportunity to make this cuvée as we often have exceptional lots of the five Bordeaux varietals that don’t make it into the Cinq Cépages in a given year. These extra lots are gems in our cellar and we created this house blend to give them a place to shine. By design, the varieties and blend vary with each vintage. We have been producing this house-cuvee since 1999.

Winemaking
This 2010 Eighty-Five Fifty-Five wine consists of Merlot (38%), Cabernet Franc (23%), Malbec (18%), Petite Verdot (16%) and Syrah (5%). Each component was aged separately for 22 months exclusively in French oak barrels (59% new). Once the barrel selection was made, the wine was assembled and bottled.
