This classic Bordeaux blend shows amazing power and finesse at such a youthful stage.  It's a magnificent Cabernet with loads of rich, concentrated black fruit intertwined with mocha, dried herbs, violet candy and mint aromas.  On the palate, inviting flavors of currant, ripe black plums, blackberry and roasted oak aromas awakens your senses.  Generous, supple and ripe tannins surround a firm structure and lead to a deeply extracted and lengthy finish.  Cellar Selection, this wine is certainly going to benefit from 2 or more years in the bottle.

This is the finest Cabernet Sauvignon crafted at Chateau St. Jean, period. The wine is aged in oak for three years before receiving an additional year of bottle age and its release always comes with joyous anticipation from staff and customers alike. The nose shows deep, dense and rich aromas of black fruits, anise and roasted coffee beans. A big soft entry begins with chocolate covered cherries and blackberries that surround lush tannins and exotic floral notes. Savory spices mixed with cassis and sweet tobacco continue throughout a long finish. This wine is built for ageing and will benefit from five to fifteen additional years in the bottle.  A very impressive cellar selection for the serious collector.

The Reserve Merlot at Chateau St Jean is one of our finest programs.  Every bottle since we first started making it has been a wonder of bold, striking flavors, perfect structure, and supreme ageablility.  This is the wine we fondly call, "Liquid Velvet in a Glass."

The 2006 vintage continues this fine tradition with one of our absolute best offerings, yet.  Classic chocolate covered cherries with freshly picked black berries, cassis, violet and mocha flavors.  Intense aromas, intense mouthfeel, intense structure.  Beautiful in every way and very, very concentrated, this wine will age for many years to come.

The 2007 vintage of the Cinq Cépages is one of elegance. The nose is vivid with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and rose petal floral notes. The palate offers a rich, plush dark fruit density surrounded by fine tannins and a raw silk texture. Complex layers of boysenberry, black plum and roasted coffee combine beautifully with notes of mocha. This wine has beautiful oak integration and a juicy core that leads to a lingering finish with hints of clove spice.

 

 

 

 

 

Cinq Cépages is the flagship wine of Chateau St. Jean. Each year, Winemaker Margo Van Staaveren selects fruit from the finest Bordeaux variety vineyards to craft a wine that showcases the best of Sonoma County. The primary grape sources for the 2006 vintage are Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Sonoma Valley. The Alexander Valley grapes highlight bright berry with back notes of dried herbs, while the Sonoma Valley fruit is from our home vineyard – the St. Jean Estate Vineyard – and brings black and dense mountain fruit to the blend. The Knights Valley fruit adds boysenberry flavors and elegant tannins.

Juicy and mouth-filling, this wine bursts with bright raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and café au lait. Impressive tannins surround a complex core of black fruit and hints of tasty oak that last throughout a long finish. A big, flavorful wine that begs to be enjoyed with a good meal.

What a wine!!  The Reserve Malbec has been an immediate favorite at the winery and one that sells itself over and over again.  Juicy and lush, it has pleasant notes of violet candy, intense, sweet spice on the palate and notes of plums, cassis, blackberries and black cherries. It is creamy, smooth and ripe in the mouth with soft, round tannins and a long silky finish. If you haven't tried it, pick up a bottle and find out what you've been missing.

Aromas of ripe blueberries, violets and dark chocolate lift from the glass on this Cabernet Franc. Dense and highly extracted, this wine has a plush entry with well-integrated tannins, a richness of fruit and accents of black pepper and roasted coffee. Subtle notes of blueberry and roasted oak linger on the finish.  Give this wine time to open up and you will be nicely rewarded.

Vivid aromas of violets, cherry and lavender with notes of cedar spice jump from this St. Jean Estate Merlot. The plush palate has layers of red cherry jam and mocha flavors. The wine is well structured with supple tannins that compliment the smooth and long finish.

The nose of this Pinot is filled with dried cranberries, raspberries, and bing cherries, followed by notes of smoky oak, rose petals, cola, bacon and barbequed meat. In the mouth, it’s impeccably balanced, exotic, silky and supple and displays a beautiful core of cherry, berry and earthy flavors. Delicious!

The nose of this wine shows the classic berry-cherry fruit with very pleasant perfume and earthy aromas. Beautifully structured, a sip of this wine will appeal to most Pinot lovers for its sensual, attractive mouthfeel and long, satisfying finish.

The nose of this Pinot Noir is filled with inviting aromas of dried cranberries, black plums, ripe bing cherries, smoky oak, rose petals, cola, black tea, bacon, and barbequed meat.  In the mouth it's impeccably balanced, exotic, silky and supple, while displaying a beautiful core cherry-berry and earthy flavors.  Simply delicious.  This Pinot is more about grace than power - it's a textural wonder!

This well-structured and concentrated Syrah bursts forth with aromas of violets, coffee and chocolate. On the palate it boasts a core of wild berry, blackberry and black pepper that surround chewy tannins for a lush, rich texture that leads to a spicy finish.

This Syrah is a terrific buy, year in, your out. The nose of this particular vintage displays blackcurrant, black cherries, cassis, violets, mint, coffee beans and coconut milk aromas. Deep purple in color, it's concentrated in the mouth with a very attractive and juicy texture. Well-balanced, this wine will benefit from short term cellaring as the tannins will gradually release delicious and complex ageing aromas. Very tasty by itself, it also pairs well with most barbequed meats.

Bright aromas of blackberry, red currant, cassis and hints of cedar box are inviting on this Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is concentrated and structured with a plush fruit core of dark berry fruit. The palate is round and full and with a lingering finish. 

A classic Sonoma Merlot crafted with grapes from the finest vineyards in the Sonoma Valley, Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, Carneros, Dry Creek and Russian River Valley.  Aromas of ripe blackberry fruit, black cherry, cola and sweet oak spice burst from the glass of this wine. The bright fruit characters carry over onto the palate and mingle with notes of cassis and chocolate, helped by a small amount of Malbec.  An elegant wine and a good value.

Youthful and inviting, this Pinot Noir displays lovely aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cranberry as well as hints of rose and leather. The palate offers juicy fruit flavors and soft tannins that give a creamy texture and a long fruit-driven finish.
