Estate wines are the best way to experience the unique "terroir" of a winery, with grapes grown entirely on our property. Our 2006 Estate Merlot is a fantastic example of this. Bursting with aromas of blueberry cobbler, plum and black licorice, this elegant Merlot delivers a generous amount of dark fruit flavors, with round and fine-grained tannins. An extra year of cellaring has softened this already lush wine even further.

The 2007 vintage of the Cinq Cépages is one of elegance. The nose is vivid with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and rose petal floral notes. The palate offers a rich, plush dark fruit density surrounded by fine tannins and a raw silk texture. Complex layers of boysenberry, black plum and roasted coffee combine beautifully with notes of mocha. This wine has beautiful oak integration and a juicy core that leads to a lingering finish with hints of clove spice. NOTE: This is the 375ml half-bottle size.

La Petite Etoile Vineyard (“the little star”) is a 44-acre parcel in the rolling hills of the northern Russian River corridor. Lingering morning fog and afternoon maritime breezes make this the perfect home for growing luscious Pinot Noir, which this hidden gem in our portfolio most certainly is. Only 14 cases are left as of the start of our Winter Cellar Sale.

93 POINTS

Wine Advocate | Robert Parker | March 1, 2012
"The 2007 Reserve Merlot is an exotic, beguiling wine. Firm, yet well-integrated tannins frame a core of expressive fruit. This is a surprisingly tannic Merlot that needs time in bottle to soften. Readers expecting a juicy, plush Merlot will need to look elsewhere, as this is a structured wine endowed with considerable energy and vibrancy. The 2007 includes 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was aged in 100% new oak, which it seems to handle, although a little less new oak might have allowed the fruit to show more radiance. Anticipated Maturity: 2014-2022."

The dense color of this wine highlights the rich, layered qualities found in the 2009 vintage. Aromas of boysenberry and cassis provide a bright fruit foundation to light floral and sweet milk chocolate notes. The palate finds more fullness of flavor in ripe blackberry and dark stone fruit, interwoven with black licorice and cocoa powder. The plush, full mouthfeel finds structure in well-integrated tannins and draws out to a consistent, lengthy finish. The 2008 Cinq Cépages is designed to be accessible now but blended for successful long-term aging.
