This 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is inviting with aromas of warm, ripe blackberry, creamy milk chocolate and subtle notes of fresh lavender. The layered aromas are met on the palate with flavors of fresh berries and fine spice. Well integrated tannins set the stage for a perfectly balanced wine with the hallmark Chateau St. Jean elegant finish. This reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows great potential for extended aging.
This Reserve wine consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (96%) blended with Merlot (2%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). Individual lots of each varietal were aged separately for three years in small, 100% French oak barrels (44% new) from select coopers. The wine spent an additional year in the bottle before release.
Chateau St. Jean’s Reserve wines are crafted by selecting the vineyard lots from throughout Sonoma County that offer the most generous fruit expression and the ability to age. We source vineyards spanning from the Sonoma Valley to Alexander Valley in order to craft a wine that expresses a full range of fruit flavors.
