This 2012 Eighty-Five Fifty-Five wine consists of Petit Verdot (34%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (27%), Malbec (6%), and Syrah (6%). Each component was aged separately for 25 months in a combination of French (94%) and American (6%) oak barrels. Once the barrel selection was made, the wine was assembled and bottled. The final blend for this wine changes with each vintage creating an intriguing wine that beckons to be tried each year.
The 2012 vintage offers expressive aromas of fresh, ripe boysenberry, currants and savory notes of cinnamon and clove. This full-bodied wine has a rich fruit core which reveals depth and concentration adding overall complexity. Notes of cocoa powder, black raspberry and blueberry are complemented by the ripe, round tannins on the finish.
