Made only in extraordinary vintages, Chateau St. Jean's reserve wines represent the best lots from Sonoma's best vineyards.  This three liter  "Double Magnum" bottle  is equivalent to four regular bottles, the added size allows the wine to age slowly and develops nuances and complexities over the course of years. Perfect to commemorate special occasions, weddings and more!

This hallmark Reserve Merlot from Chateau St. Jean is an exceptional wine. The wine is loaded with enticing dark fruit aromas of blackberry, boysenberry and plum. The fruit aromas are given depth by notes of clove, baking spice and mocha. The seductive palate has layers of flavors varying from black fruit to dusty, cocoa powder. The wine is well-structured with incredibly smooth tannins and a rich, mouth-filling texture. As with previous bottlings, this 2009 vintage will reward with several years of cellaring.

Chateau St. Jean’s Reserve wines are crafted by selecting the vineyard lots from throughout Sonoma County that offer the most generous fruit expression and the ability to age. For this bottling, the majority of the Merlot was sourced from the Newman Vineyard in Knights Valley, whom we have had a relationship with for decades. This 2009 vintage is 100% Merlot fruit.

The Reserve Merlot is aged for two years in small, 100% French oak barrels from select coopers. The wine was then assembled, by tasting and selecting the most outstanding Merlot lots, and aged in barrels (100% new) for a third year. The wine spent an additional year in the bottle before release.
