Tasting Notes

The Benoist Ranch Syrah is an inky purple color in the glass and offers vibrant aromas of fresh blackberries, blueberry jam, along with cocoa powder. Secondary notes of black tea and black pepper are also noticeable on the nose. The aromas lead to a plush palate where the concentrated black fruit flavors stand out. The wine is dense and well-structured, with smooth tannins and surrounded with juicy fruit leading to a lengthy finish.

Vineyard Note

The Benoist Ranch is located in the coveted Sonoma Coast appellation where maritime influences produce Syrah with concentrated red raspberry and blackberry jam flavors while maintaining bright natural acidity.

Winemaking Notes

After primary fermentation, the wine was drained from the skins and sent to barrel.  We carefully select the barrels we use for this Syrah to frame and enhance the rich, jam-like fruit from the vineyard and to help develop richness and integration with the oak components.  The wine was aged 23 months in exclusively French oak with 53% of the barrels being new. The wine was then assembled and bottled.
