Cold Creek Ranch is tucked away in the most Southern portion of the coveted Sonoma Coast appellation. The ranch experiences maritime influences from both the San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean which provide cool breezes and morning fog. This results in Chardonnay with forward fruit flavors and lively acidity. Chateau St. Jean has been sourcing Chardonnay from the Cold Creek Ranch for its Reserve Chardonnay since the 2002 vintage. This 2014 Cold Creek Chardonnay is the eighth release of this single-vineyard bottling.

Tasting Note

Cold Creek Ranch Chardonnay is known for its bright, tropical fruit aromas of pineapple and citrus. The wine also has subtle floral notes that add complexity. The core of minerality on the palate gives structure to the luscious lemon cream pie, ripe peach and nectarine flavors on the full, rich palate. Lively acidity balances the richness through to the flavorful and long finish.

Winemaker's Note

This wine was barrel fermented and aged sur lie exclusively in small French oak barrels for eight months. No new barrels were used in this vintage allowing for the bright, forward fruit character of the Chardonnay from this vineyard to hold a prominent position in the blend.
