90 Points - The Wine Advocate

"As for the 2014 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard, this wine displays some rocky minerality as well as touches of wood smoke, honeysuckle, and roasted nuts in a somewhat Meursault-inspired effort from California. Drink it over the next several years."  - Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, December 2016

Tasting Notes

The nose leads to a rich, round and textured mouthfeel where the fruit flavors are underpinned by toasted hazelnut and sweet vanilla spice notes. The overall elegance of the wine offers a pleasing cool-climate structure, is well-balanced with bright acidity, and has a long, lemon-oil finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Classic winemaking techniques of barrel fermentation and sur lie aging are used in crafting this single-vineyard designate Chardonnay. Clonal selection plays an important role in the final blend, with both Clone 5 and Clone 15 being used exclusively. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 15 months in 100% French oak barrels (45% new).
